Gehry Back on Disney Project
Embattled architect Frank O. Gehry has won the contract to complete working drawings for the Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles, following the appointment of Diane Disney Miller as vice chairwoman of the hall's oversight board.
Disney Miller, daughter of Walt Disney, is a strong supporter of Gehry who in late July authorized up to $14 million in Disney family funds already donated to the concert hall to pay the architect to finish his drawings. Mayor Richard Riordan and SunAmerica Inc. Chairman Eli Broad had earlier endorsed a plan that would have removed Gehry from the project.
Broad was named chairman of the oversight committee.
