Entertainment reporter Sandro Monetti’s business take on this weekend’s new movie releases.
THE TRANSPORTER: REFUELED – An elite package delivery business with a “take big payments, ask no questions” policy faces the potential loss of its best courier when he is held at gunpoint on the way to work. Luckily, the enterprising employee gets out of trouble by drawing on fighting skills from his previous job as a special forces agent to dispatch a string of villains and quickly get back to delivering classified packages in his tricked out Audi. More mayhem ensues. Maybe his rich clients should use UPS next time.
A WALK IN THE WOODS – A bored, semi-retired travel writer longs for one more great adventure, and one more bestseller, so decides to hike the 2,200 mile Appalachian trail – while ignoring the risks of his advancing years and lack of camping experience. For safety as much as company he is urged to take a friend along, but with all his close pals recently dead he’s forced to recruit an old buddy he’s not seen since college. The old friend, a drunken womanizer, will at least ensure the book will be interesting, if the author survives long enough to write it.
BEFORE YOU GO – An art buyer about to close a big deal has her purse and cellphone stolen and needs some fast cash, so she accepts an offer of help from a busker. Unfortunately, he’s better at playing the trumpet than solving financial problems; his grand idea is to confront the thieves and ask them to give the bag back. The lesson for businesswomen is: pick your knight in shining armor more carefully.
