What to Watch this Weekend

Entertainment reporter Sandro Monetti’s business take on this weekend’s two big movie releases.

STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON – This gansta-rap biopic is as much about music as it is about contract law and the importance of hiring trusted advisers. A successful Los Angeles music group is ripped apart by disputes over who is entitled to what share of the profits. When members of pioneering rap group N.W.A. claim their manager Jerry Heller has ripped them off, he counter claims that anti-Semitism is behind their complaint. They later get involved with wannabe music mogul Suge Knight only to find his way of doing business is very different as negotiating tactics become all about threats and intimidation.

THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. – When Russian and American rivals in the spy business are forced to work together, their dislike and distrust of each other hampers the project until they learn to put old feelings aside. But when each is given an order to kill the other at the end of a successful mission, their friendship is tested by the pull of company loyalty and duty.
