Live Nation Entertainment Inc. on Friday said that its Ticketmaster ticketing division signed an agreement to acquire ServiCaixa, a ticket retailer in Spain, creating the largest such service in that country.
ServiCaixa will be combined with Ticketmaster Spain, formerly known as TickTackTicket. The Beverly Hills concert and artist promoter said that ServiCaixa was purchased from La Caixa, Spain’s largest savings bank and third largest financial institution. Terms of the deal, which must get antitrust approval from Spanish regulators, was not disclosed.
As part of the transaction, Ticketmaster will enter into a multi-year marketing and ticket distribution partnership with La Caixa, which will allow Ticketmaster to offer tickets through the bank’s 8,100 ATMs in Spain.
“Expanding internationally in attractive markets where we can replicate our integrated model and grow profitably represents one of our key growth initiatives,” Chief Executive Michael Rapino said in a statement.
Live Nation shares were down 25 cents, or 2.4 percent, to $10.18 in midday trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
