The California Film Commission announced July 2 that it will pay $15 million total to relocate production of two television shows to California as part of the state’s $330 million-a-year motion picture tax credit program.

The state gave to $9.29 million to NBCUniversal Media comedy “Good Girls” to move production from Atlanta to Los Angeles. Good Girls has been on the air for one season.

And California gave $6.06 million to “You,” an A&E Television Networks drama in which episodes were shot in New York City, but hasn’t aired.

The announcements are the latest salvo in a competition with New York and Georgia, which also provide hundreds of millions of dollars each year in motion picture tax credits. Gov. Jerry Brown signed a bill last week that will extend the tax credit program through 2024.

A Film Commission press release claims that the two shows will together employ 420 crew, 429 cast, and 7,060 extras, and spend $61.4 million in wages for these workers, plus payments to in-state companies that contract with the show makers.
