Win or lose, the Los Angeles Rams can count on both great weather and devoted fans in Southern California.
Saturday’s broadcast of the team’s preseason contest against the Denver Broncos on KCBS (Channel 2) was the most-watched program in the Los Angeles market. It averaged a 4.5 Nielsen rating and was watched by an average of 388,000 viewers. The Rams fell to Denver, 17-9.
Viewership for Saturday’s game at Denver was up 36 percent compared to the Rams’ second preseason game on Aug. 20 against Kansas City. The ratings for the Aug. 20 game ranked second in the broadcast’s 6 to 9:15 p.m. time period only to the Rio Olympics on KNBC (Channel 4).
As the Rams’ official English-language preseason television partner, KCBS features game coverage from Rams Hall of Famers Eric Dickerson and Marshall Faulk, and a pre-game show with commentary from Jim Hill and Jim Everett.
“We are fortunate to have these dynamic and accomplished broadcasters welcome our fans back to football this month,” said Kevin Demoff, chief operating officer for the Rams in a statement.
The Rams will face the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday in Minneapolis. The game will be broadcast locally starting at 5 p.m. on KCBS (Channel 2).
