NBCUniversal received a boost for its technology coverage on Monday with the announcement that the media company signed a deal for a news website with Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher of AllThingsD, according to a media report.

Swisher and Mossberg will have a majority control of the new venture through a holding company named Revere Digital, with NBCUniversal and another unnamed investor taking about a third of the business, Bloomberg News reported.

Mossberg and Swisher started their news and conference business in 2003 as part of News Corp. in New York. The pair, whose regular column was featured in the Wall Street Journal, are leaving at the end of the year and sought investors for a new startup, Bloomberg reported.

NBCUniversal, which is owned by Comcast Corp. in Philadelphia and has West Coast operations in Universal City, will get a bigger entry into technology coverage. The startup’s stories will receive exposure on CNBC, NBC News and MSNBC, according to Bloomberg.
