Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. on Monday announced a multi-year partnership with Freddie Wong’s popular YouTube content producer RocketJump Studios.
The Santa Monica studio will provide its marketing expertise to RocketJump, which is affiliated with YouTube MCN Collective Digital Studios, a subsidiary of Los Angeles management and production company The Collective.
In return, RocketJump, best known for its hit online show “Video Game High School,” will give Lions Gate access to RocketJump’s slate of digital content. Lions Gate gets a a “first look” at RocketJump projects suitable for digital and traditional platforms. Financial terms were not disclosed.
RocketJump was founded by Wong, Matt Arnold and Dez Dolly four years ago. and has 6.8 million YouTube subscribers
“This partnership unites two entrepreneurial companies with similar cultures,” Lions Gate Chief Executive Officer Jon Feltheimer said in a statement. “Freddie Wong is one of digital media’s most prolific and visionary creators, and RocketJump is a bold and innovative platform that … extends our storytelling abilities in exciting new directions.”
Lions Gate shares closed up 18 cents, or 1 percent, to $23.62 on the NewYork Stock Exchange.
