Ixia has signed a definitive agreement to acquire VeriWave Inc., a performance testing company for wireless local-area networks and Wi-Fi enabled smart devices, for an undisclosed amount.
VeriWave, which is based in Beaverton, Ore., makes products that validate Wi-Fi networks and mobile smart devices by measuring speed, quality and other performance markers. The acquisition will enable Ixia, a Calabasas provider of converged IP and wireless network test products, to offer a more comprehensive line of services to its customers, which include network equipment manufacturers, service providers, businesses, and government agencies.
“By integrating VeriWave’s portfolio of innovative Wi-Fi testing solutions, Ixia will help ensure that carriers, multi-system operators, enterprises, and network equipment manufacturers are able to fully support media-rich applications running on all types of wireless smart devices,” Chief Executive Atul Bhatnagar said in a statement.
Terms were not disclosed, but Ixia said late Monday that it expects the acquisition to be accretive to earnings within one year. The deal is scheduled to close by July 18.
Ixia’s shares were up 23 cents, or 1.8 percent, to $12.69 in midday trading on the Nasdaq.
