ReachLocal Inc. has expanded into five new markets and launched an experimental local networking site for small- to medium-sized businesses.
The Woodland Hills online marketing company opened offices in Indianapolis; Raleigh, N.C.; Greater Manchester, U.K.; Vancouver, Canada and Brisbane, Australia, bringing its total office count to 45, it said.
ReachLocal, which went public last month, also said Tuesday that it launched a beta version of a local business site called Bizzy.com, designed to connect users with local businesses, receive exclusive offers, get invitations to events, as well as get tips and news from favorite businesses. The first local sites are in New York, San Francisco, and Dallas.
“We built Bizzy because we believe there needs to be a separate, unique place where local business owners can connect and communicate with their best customers in a way that is welcoming, fun, and exclusively built for this kind of relationship,” said Chief Executive Zorik Gordon in a statement.
The site enables local businesses to create their own social networking “feed” and also connect with customers via email, Twitter, and Facebook.
Shares closed up 57 cents, or 4 percent, to $14.23 on the Nasdaq.
