Music Mastermind has closed a $10.8 million Series B funding round that it said will help it launch its create-and-share music software sometime this year.
The Calabasas company said Monday that the lead investors were Intel Capital and Liberty Global Ventures, with unspecified angel investors also participating. The money brings to $15.8 million the total that the company has received since February 2010.
Music Mastermind’s SoundBetter audio processing program is designed to allow nonexperts to instantly create, publish, and distribute their own music digitally. The three-year-old company was co-founded by Matt Serletic, former Virgin Records chairman and chief executive, and Bo Bazylevsky, former global head of emerging markets corporate trading at J.P. Morgan. The chief technology officer is Reza Rassool, who has won several technical Oscar and Emmy awards.
“We believe Music Mastermind’s cutting-edge technologies will connect the international community in a completely new way,” Bruce Dines, Liberty Global managing director, said in a statement.
