DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. said Wednesday that it has formed a partnership with Samsung Electronics America Inc. and Technicolor to help promote a 3D home entertainment product line this year.

The products will include a line of 3D-capable HDTVs and a new 3D Blu-ray disc player from Samsung, which is based in Ridgefield Park, N.J. There will be an exclusive promotion featuring a new 3D Blu-ray version of Glendale-based DreamWorks’ 2009 release, “Monsters vs. Aliens.” The disc will be created and produced by Hollywood-based Technicolor.”

The goal of the partnership is to speed up development of in-home 3D products.

“2009 was the Year of 3D in theaters throughout the world as movie-goers consistently chose the premium 3D experiences,” said Jeffrey Katzenberg, DreamWorks Animation chief executive.

DreamWorks Animation shares on Wednesday closed down 6 cents, or less than 1 percent, to $39.87 on the Nasdaq.
