In its latest expansion effort, Westwood-based Ankler Media Group welcomed a new publisher.
At the end of January, Lynne Segall joined Chief Executive and Editor-in-Chief Janice Min to lead the media company, which has made its mark as one of the most popular alternative voices on the entertainment industry, dubbed a “hit Hollywood newsletter” by New York Times. She will collaborate with head of sales London Sanders to lead sales and revenue strategy across the board, including direct advertising, live events, podcasts and video.
Segall and Min previously collaborated at The Hollywood Reporter and Billboard to lead a reinvention of the brands on editorial and commercial fronts.
“I could not be more delighted to be partnering with Lynne again. She and London Sanders are, bar none, the best business duo in town,” Min said in a statement. “Lynne will add fuel to our already record growth and enable both the edit team and London’s team to move faster as we continue our roll-out of exciting new offerings this year. Stay tuned.”
The industry
Created in 2022 by Min and Richard Rushfield, Ankler saw explosive growth in its short and sweet history. Its subscription count climbed 43% last year with a 140% growth in sponsorship, event and advertising revenue, and its social audience count hiked more than eight times year-over-year. Beyond the core business of newsletters, the company is also doing well on its podcast and event fronts, with more than a million podcast downloads and over 50 events hosted last year.
Coming out of her previous roles as executive vice president and group publisher of The Hollywood Reporter and Billboard, and chief revenue officer at The Wrap, Segall said she looked forward to joining forces with Sanders to continue the growth. “I’m thrilled to be joining Ankler Media and to be working with Janice again,” Segall said. “Ankler Media is uniquely positioned at a moment to continue ownership of the industry’s rapid transformation.”
