OSI Systems, the Hawthorne company with divisions that produce security scanning equipment, medical devices and optoelectronic equipment, announced today that its security division has obtained a contract worth about $10 million with an undisclosed international customer.

The newly-announced order comes for the Eagle M60, a mobile X-ray imaging system designed to detect items such as drugs or explosives that may be hidden in high-density cargo. OSI Systems’ security division, Rapiscan Systems, produces the Eagle M60.

Phone calls to OSI Systems were not immediately returned. Although the company did not identify the customer, OSI Systems’ announcement did reveal that delivery of the new order would increase the use of the company’s products in the Middle East.

OSI Systems shares closed at $64.14 per share, up 3 percent, on the Nasdaq.
