Officials for the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach released data for July’s cargo volumes on Friday.
Cargo volume at the Port of Los Angeles totaled more than the equivalent of 717,000 shipping containers during July, nearly the same as volumes reported during the same month last year.
Container imports to the Port of Los Angeles fell 2 percent year-over-year to more than 363,000 containers. Container exports rose 4 percent to more than 163,000 units.
Year to date cargo volumes at Port of Los Angeles rose 8 percent compared with the same period last year.
At the Port of Long Beach, July’s total container volume rose 3.7 percent year-over-year to the equivalent of roughly 583,000 units. Imports were up by about 1 percent to nearly 298,000 units. Exports fell 6 percent to more than 124,000 units.
Year to date overall cargo volumes for the Port of Long Beach have risen 2.7 percent compared with the same period last year.
