Gores Group LLC on Tuesday said that it is acquiring nearly all of the assets of Scovill Fasteners, a bankrupt maker of closure products for apparel and industrial uses.
Billionaire Alec Gores’ Los Angeles investment company said the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware approved the transaction on June 10. Terms were not disclosed.
Scovill is headquartered in Clarkesville, Ga. and has made snap-closure buttons for consumer and military clothing since 1802. Today, its buttons, snaps and other fasteners are used in apparel, sporting goods, medical devices and safety equipment manufactured in the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia.
“Scovill is an outstanding company with great employees and an impressive lineup of products,” said Mike Hirano, Gores Group managing director, in a statement. “We think it has a bright future and look forward to working with the management team and employees to help grow the company.”
