Downtown L.A.’s Cambrian Energy Development, a landfill gas-to-energy developer, has purchased a majority stake in a Dallas biomethane production facility for $40.6 million.
Cambrian purchased the stake in McCommas Bluff plant, the third-largest landfill gas operation in the United States, from Newport Beach alternative fuel developer and supplier Clean Energy Fuels Corp. Terms of the sale include the potential for another $3 million in compensation based on future performance tests of the facility, which are expected to be completed early this year, according to Clean Energy.
Before the sale, Cambrian had a minority interest in the McCommas Bluff facility, which it acquired in 2008.
A representative at Cambrian could not be reached for comment.
