Dole Food Co. said its fresh vegetables division has recalled 756 cases of bagged salad because they could be contaminated with salmonella.
In an announcement posted on the Food and Drug Administration’s website over the weekend, the Westlake Village company said that the potentially affected bags of Seven Lettuces salads were distributed in New York, Florida and 13 other states. The bags were recalled because a random sample taken by New York state inspectors tested positive for salmonella.
No other Dole salads are included in the recall, said the company, which is considered the world’s largest producer of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Dole said no illnesses have been reported and that it is working with regulators. The most common symptoms of salmonella poisoning include diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever.
Shares were down 13 cents, or 1.4 percent, to $9.52 in midday trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
