Brentwood Associates said that it has completed the sales of Filson Holdings Inc., an maker of premium outdoor apparel and accessories, and Array Marketing Group, a maker of retail merchandising systems.
The Brentwood private equity investment firm did not disclose terms of the deals announced Monday and Tuesday. Filson Holdings of Seattle, Wash. was sold to Bedrock Manufacturing Co. of Dallas. Array Marketing of Toronto, Ontario was sold to a Toronto investment firm called TorQuest Partners, in partnership with Array’s management team.
Brentwood said that under its ownership since December 2004, Filson, which was founded in 1897, accelerated product development, grew its direct-to-consumer business significantly by expanding catalog and e-commerce marketing, and expanded wholesale distribution to outdoor and premium specialty retailers.
“Filson is an iconic heritage brand that continues to grow its base of highly loyal customers through its multi-channel distribution platform,” said Steve Moore, a Brentwood partner, in a statement.
Array designs, manufactures and distributes store fixtures and merchandising displays for premium consumer, apparel and retail companies.
“We are extremely proud of Array’s achievements, having tripled sales volume and built an impressive portfolio of prestige clients during our investment period,” said Roger Goddu, a Brentwood partner, in a statement. Brentwood Associates acquired Array in 2000.
Brentwood Associates, which invests in middle-market consumer companies, said that it has more than $650 million in capital under management. Current portfolio companies include Santa Monica restaurant chain Veggie Grill, El Segundo fitness center operator Spectrum Clubs Inc. and Minneapolis personalized jewelry designer Chamilia.
