Superior Industries Founder Dies

Superior Industries International Inc. announced that its founding chairman, Louis L. Borick, died Wednesday. He was 87.

The Van Nuys company lauded Borick as a business visionary who led and built Superior from a small automotive accessories distributor into a major automotive component supplier around the world. It is considered the largest manufacturer of aluminum wheels for passenger cars and light-duty vehicles in North America.

Borick founded the company in 1957, was chief executive until 2005 and was chairman until 2007. “He was a natural leader, known for his integrity and focus on constantly adding value to the products the company produced,” the company said in a statement Thursday.

Borick is survived by his three children: Steven, who is now chairman and chief executive of Superior Industries; Robert and Linda, and two grandchildren.
