Toyota, Lexus and Scion vehicles will keep rolling into the Port of Long Beach through at least 2028.
The Long Beach Harbor Commission on Monday gave preliminary approval to a 20-year lease, worth upwards of $12 million per year, with the Japanese auto maker. The lease is retroactive to 2009 and calls for Toyota to meet various environmental goals.
Final approval is expected at the commission’s next meeting.
Toyota Motor Corp., a port tenant since 1981, imports upwards of 200,000 vehicles a year to a 144-acre site at Pier B on the north end of the port.
