Coda Automotive and rental car giant Hertz Corp. on Monday said they signed an agreement to offer the Santa Monica automaker’s all-electric cars at certain Hertz locations in Southern California next year.

The companies did not disclose terms or the number of Hertz locations and cars to be purchased by Hertz for its new Hertz Global EV rental program. Coda’s four-door passenger sedan will join vehicles from Nissan and other manufacturers to form a Hertz fleet of electric and partly electric vehicles.

Coda vehicles, whose components are made in China and assembled in California, are designed to be plugged into household units or commercial charging stations. The sedan has a range of 90 to 120 miles per charge.

“Hertz’s partnership with Coda Automotive is another element of our long-term strategy to provide consumers with electric vehicle access on a global scale,” Hertz Chief Executive Mark Frissora said in a statement. “As we continue to build out our (electric and partially electric) infrastructure, we get closer to making electric vehicle travel an everyday reality.”
