Raytheon Intelligence & Space, a division of Raytheon Technologies Corp., plans to hire more than 300 workers at its El Segundo location.

Waltham, Mass-based Raytheon said it is seeking skilled workers in the areas of cybersecurity, engineering and hardware and systems design.

Raytheon acquired the El Segundo facility in 1997. The plant, which focuses on electronic warfare technologies and radar systems, employs more than 6,000 workers.

The expansion of Raytheon’s workforce comes at a challenging time for the aerospace and defense sector, which has been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic.

Raytheon reported a second-quarter loss of $3.8 billion. The company had an adjusted net income of $598 million after factoring in $4.4 billion in non-recurring charges.
