Boeing Co. on Monday said that Air Lease Corp. will purchase up to 33 jetliners, as the year-old commercial aircraft leasing company continues to ramp up its fleet.

The agreement includes 14 firm orders and four options for the company’s next-generation 737-800s, as well as five extended range 777-300ERs, and four 787-9 Dreamliners. In addition, Air Lease also agreed to exercise options on six airplanes from last year’s order of 737-800s, the Seattle aerospace giant said.

“Air Lease Corp.’s management team has a proven track record in global airplane leasing,” Jim Albaugh, chief executive of the Boeing Commercial Airplanes unit, said in a statement. “This agreement demonstrates their disciplined approach to building a fleet of young, high-quality, high-demand airplanes. It is impressive how Air Lease Corp. has positioned itself for success since starting business early last year.”

Century City-based Air Lease did not put out its own statement, but Chief Executive Steven Udvar-Hazy appeared at the Paris Air Show press conference announcing the deal, according to news reports.

Air Lease has a fleet of 46 new and used commercial jet aircraft, and anticipates growing its fleet to about 100 planes by the end of the year. The company earlier this month said that it has issued $120 million in senior unsecured notes in a private placement to institutional investors.

Air Lease shares closed down 9 cents, or less than 1 percent, to $25.81 on the New York Stock Exchange.
