Reed Smith LLP has two new managing partners for its Los Angeles operations.
Ashok Mukhey is now in charge of the firm’s Century City office, while Jennifer Terry now heads the downtown location, succeeding Ernie Ocampo and Amber Finch, respectively. Mukhey and Terry are relative newcomers to the firm, which entered the L.A. market in 2003.
“The fact that Ashok and I are both laterals and have this opportunity really speaks to the culture of Reed Smith, its openness and the ability to thrive here,” Terry said.
The firm, which was founded in Pittsburgh, signaled that it views the two leaders as being as dynamic as the L.A. business landscape.
“Their advancement underscores Reed Smith’s strong pipeline of leaders ready to contribute their management experience, leadership skill and community involvement to ensure Reed Smith’s continued growth and impact,” Casey Ryan, global managing partner, said in a statement.
Mukhey joined the firm more than three years ago as a lateral from Century City-based Irell & Manella. He highlighted the corporate practice as one he’d like to expand and noted that Century City – with its 30 attorneys – specializes in entertainment and media as well as transactional work.
“It’s been kind of a fast learning curve coming to a big international firm. I’ve enjoyed the platform,” he said.Â
Terry, a labor and employment attorney, joined Reed Smith in 2019, after spending a dozen years at ArentFox Schiff. She lauded the labor and employment bench at the firm, as well as its managed-care, insurance recovery, life sciences and patent-infringement practices, among others.
