Another Creative Joins With Canadian Outfit

West Adams-based agency Another Creative has been acquired by a Canadian-based peer, a merger that both expands the buyer’s West Coast presence and brings Another Creative’s team to a larger operation.

Another Creative is now integrating with TUX Creative Agency, which announced the acquisition last month. Another Creative’s team is joining TUX – bolstering the headcount to 75 full-time employees and 25 contractual workers – and founder Chelsea Matthews is now vice president of creative for TUX, which is based in Montreal.

“After 10 years running my own studio, the opportunity to grow, collaborate and learn from the like-minded group at TUX felt like an organic next chapter for myself and my team,” Matthews said. “Frankly, it’s a much more robust version of what Another was. We were a very small creative studio that was very focused and specialized.”

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Matthews formed Another Creative in 2013, initially to ride the wave of social media apps that were captivating the market. It was around then that household names such as Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat were on the ascent.

“At the time, we were a social media creative agency,” Matthews said. “We were really focused on helping brands articulate themselves in this new ‘Wild West’ of social media.”

Another’s services ultimately grew to include campaign development and strategy, full-service production in photography and film – with an in-house studio and design for packaging and brand identity. As an upstart agency, Another logged many prominent brands as clients, including Nike, Google, YouTube and Marriott. At its peak, Another boasted 19 employees; it had 10 employees, including Matthews, at the time of the merger.

“We always were a smaller studio. I think over the years, at our largest, we were maybe 18 or 19 people,” Matthews said. “Albeit very small, we did work with incredible bands and have plugged into their creative and marketing needs.”

Matthews first met TUX cofounders Dominic Tremblay and Ludwig Ciupka years ago, she said, forging an “amazing personal and professional relationship” that ultimately led to this moment. TUX, which was formed in 2010, first entered the U.S. market with a Santa Monica outpost in 2022, and the company is still figuring out how to combine those assets with Another’s.

“We are thrilled to welcome Chelsea and her incredible team to the TUX house. Their work is exceptional, and they have built solid client relationships across the U.S.,” Tremblay, who is chief executive of TUX, said in a statement. “It’s evident that our teams share the same values and possess incredible talent, making us a perfect match. Together, we’re creating an unparalleled experience that seamlessly integrates creativity, production, digital and media, all within a down-to-earth and friendly agency setup.”

Matthews said there was “a lot of harmony” between the two companies and she jumped at the chance to bring bigger projects to her organization. As her team settles in, Matthews added that she has goals to bolster the L.A. operation for TUX.

“There’s generally some ambitions across the board for growth in the business,” she said. “The focus is to grow and to take the incredible talent, perspective and output that’s been in Montreal and bring some of that here to the U.S. and treat it as much as possible like a broader footprint.”
