Co-Founder, Chief Executive
StartEngine
Howard Marks co-founded Activision Games, one half of what would become Activision Blizzard, in 1991. Activision would go on to create well-known franchises like Candy Crush and Call of Duty. Marks left the company in 1998 to co-found a mobile games company, but quickly moved on and left the games industry entirely to create a crowdfunding platform. He founded StartEngine, an accelerator-turned-equity crowdfunding platform. In 2024, the company announced it doubled its year-over-year revenue in the first half of the year. Much of that growth came from StartEngine Private, a new offering that allowed users to make investments in later stage companies. In March, StartEngine acquired Vinovest, a platform dedicated to investing in wine and whiskey.
