D. Michael van Konynenburg is the chief executive of Eastdil Secured, a global real estate investment bank, led from offices in Santa Monica, New York and London. In March, the company announced a $1.1 billion merger with Savills. In the announcement, Van Konynenburg was named chief executive. Before joining Eastdil Secured, Van Konynenburg was the president and chief executive of Secured Capital Corp. He co-founded the real estate investment banking firm in 1990. It merged with Eastdil Realty in 2006 to form Eastdil Secured. Before that he was a senior vice president at Drexel Burnham Lambert’s CMBS and High Yield Bond divisions in Beverly Hills. He is a founding board member of the Ziman Center for Real Estate at the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
