Director
Jet Propulsion Laboratory
Dave Gallagher was appointed last year as the 11th director of Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the NASA-funded research and development site in La Cañada Flintridge that is operated by Caltech. He had previously led the team responsible for fixing an optical issue in the Hubble Space Telescope and was involved in other NASA missions such as the Spitzer Space Telescope. Gallagher in October had to preside over a restructuring of JPL’s operations, in concert with NASA’s own changes, that resulted in the layoff of about 11% of the operation’s workforce.
