Smith has climbed the ladder at Torrance-based insurance brokerage firm for more than 36 years, rising to chief executive in 2000. He returned to being the president at AssuredPartners, the parent company of Keenan, in November. Earlier in his career, he developed and negotiated Prudential Insurance Co.’s first preferred provider organization and later worked as a major accounts manager for Anthem Blue Cross. Outside of work, Smith previously served on the boards of the Young Presidents’ Organization and the World Presidents’ Organization.
