LA500 2025: Ynon Kreiz

Kreiz joined toymaker Mattel as chief executive in April 2018 and was named chair a month later. During his tenure, Kreiz has focused on developing the company’s intellectual properties, including live-action motion pictures. The company’s first movie, “Barbie,” made more than $1 billion at the box office. Kreiz is also working on theme parks based on Mattel’s IP. It will open its first, Mattel Adventure Park, later this year in Glendale, Arizona, a suburb of Phoenix. It will feature rides based on popular Mattel toys including Barbie and Hot Wheels. Mattel is also planning to open a park in Bonner Springs, Kansas, next year. Prior to joining Mattel, Kreiz sold digital media company Maker Studios Inc. to The Walt Disney Co. in 2014 for $500 million.
