Gaskill-Hames took over as Kaiser Permanente’s top Southern California executive in 2023, replacing Julie Miller-Phipps. Gaskill-Hames oversees roughly 78,000 employees who collaborate with more than 8,100 Permanente Medical Group physicians to deliver care to roughly 4.8 million members through 16 hospitals and nearly 200 medical offices in Southern California. She also oversees another 271,000 members in Hawaii through one hospital and 21 medical offices and clinic locations. Just months after she took over the post, Gaskill-Hames had to ensure adequate health care services were provided to members in fire-stricken Maui in Hawaii; this year, she’s having to do the same for victims of the Altadena and Palisades fires.
