Welton had served six years as chief executive of Dignity Health’s Glendale Memorial Hospital before being promoted last summer to president of the Southern California region for Dignity Health, a subsidiary of Chicago-based CommonSpirit Health. In her new post, Welton remains in Glendale but now is in charge of six hospitals; the Glendale facility, California Medical Center in downtown Los Angeles, St. Mary Hospital in Long Beach, Northridge Hospital and two hospitals in San Bernardino. Under Welton’s tenure at Glendale Memorial, the hospital received its first-ever five-star rating from the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
