Chief Executive
Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital/MLK Community Healthcare
Batchlor was instrumental in opening Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital in Willowbrook in 2015, eight years after its predecessor hospital closed amidst controversies and poor care outcomes. The nonprofit serves 1.3 million residents in South Los Angeles. MLK Community Healthcare encompasses the hospital, the MLK Community Medical Group, community health programs and a fundraising foundation. Last year, the hospital received a one-time $25 million funding boost from the state to help cover cost overruns from an “overwhelming” volume of emergency room visits. Batchlor previously served as chief medical officer of L.A. Care Health Plan, a public health plan that covers underserved Los Angeles County residents.
