Cheung is the president and chief executive of the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp. and its subsidiary, the World Trade Center Los Angeles. He took on the CEO role at LAEDC in 2023. In the two roles, Cheung aims to help advance Los Angeles’ economy. Recent accomplishments include relaunching Together for LA to help small businesses recover from the recent wildfires; serving as regional convenor for the California Jobs First Initiative; and receiving the CA Regional Champion of the Year Award from the National Small Business Advocacy Council. Before joining LAEDC, Cheung was Secretary General and Managing Director of International Trade and Foreign Affairs for Los Angeles Mayors Eric Garcetti and Antonio Villaraigosa.
