Richardson is the 29th mayor of Long Beach. During his time leading the coastal city as its first Black mayor, Richardson has been working to bring more businesses to the area. Last year, he announced that Ford Motor Co. would open an Advanced EV Development Center in the area which is expected to create 450 high-paying jobs by the end of the year. He also helped bring aerospace company Vast to the city, which is expected to grow to 1,000 employees by the end of the year. His “Opportunity Beach” Agenda focuses on homelessness, economic recovery, public safety, youth development, and environmental sustainability. Before becoming mayor, Richardson was a city councilmember from 2014-2022 and served two terms as vice mayor.
