Davenport is the chief executive of Los Angeles County. In her role, which she assumed in 2021, she oversees the county’s budget of roughly $50 billion, works with the county’s 64 bargaining units and manages operations of the county’s 38 departments. Most recently, she saved more than $1 billion in seismic retrofit and related costs by acquiring the Gas Company Tower for $200 million in December and achieved the county’s highest available long-term issuer credit rating. Prior to becoming CEO, Davenport was the interim director of the Office of Child Protection, chief deputy director of the Department of Children and Family Services and chief attorney/chief deputy of the Child Support Services Department
