Weinstein is the president and co-founder of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, which received a major win earlier this year in its dispute with a pharmacy benefit manager over reimbursement rates for medications for its HIV patients. In a Jan. 17 ruling the group won $10.3 million. It alleged that Minnesota-based Prime Therapeutics violated the Sherman Antitrust Act and Minnesota laws by engaging in price fixing with major pharmacy benefit manager Express Scripts of St. Louis. Also in January, the group’s Food for Health program helped provide aid to wildfire evacuees and first responders. The AIDS Healthcare Foundation is the world’s largest nonprofit public health organization focused on addressing the global HIV/AIDS epidemic.
