Tetra Tech Inc. on Monday said it acquired a Canadian scientific and engineering services firm, its second purchase in the country.
The Pasadena company said that EBA Engineering Consultants Ltd., based in Edmonton, Alberta, will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary under the name “EBA, a Tetra Tech Company”. Terms were not disclosed, but the company said the acquisition is expected to be boost profits in the first year.
EBA has 600 employees in 10 offices in northwestern Canada and is Tetra Tech’s second Canadian acquisition in as many years. Last year it bought Wardrop Engineering. Tetra Tech now will have 1,800 employees in Canada.
“EBA is located in the heart of North America’s mining and oil and gas development activities,” Chief Executive Dan Batrack said in a statement. “EBA strengthens our geographic presence in this economically important region, and adds new customers and complementary technical services.”
Shares closed up 19 cents, or less than a percent, $20.94 on the Nasdaq.
