Container volume at the Port of Long Beach declined by 7.7 percent in July compared to the same month in 2015.
Compared with the last year, imports decreased by 5.9 percent year-over-year to 325,608 containers due to continued market uncertainty and a slow start of the holiday peak season.
On the export side, the port moved 142,812 20-foot containers, a 0.7 decrease from the last year. The port counted 330,639 loaded import 20-foot containers.
Since the begging of the year, volumes at the port are down 1.9 percent. Empty container volumes fell to 168,671, a nearly 16 percent decrease compared to July 2015. The port handled 637,091 20-foot containers last month.
