National Technical Systems Inc. has acquired Mechtronic Solutions Inc., a provider of mechanical engineering and other consulting services to the aerospace and defense market.
The Calabasas engineering services firm on Monday said Mechtronic is developing several airborne sensor systems for deployment onboard both manned and drone aircraft. It has annual revenue of about $7.5 million. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Chief Executive William McGinnis said his company and Mechtronic have partnered on several projects in the past.
“The addition of (Mechtronic) to the NTS family significantly advances our full-service integrated engineering services capabilities and provides us with additional established customers in the aerospace and defense industries,” McGinnis said in a statement. “This acquisition is a prime example of our ongoing initiative to grow and become a more diverse and capable company through strategic acquisitions.”
Mechtronic, which has 60 employees, will continue to operate in Albuquerque under its current management.
Shares were up 10 cents, or 1.4 percent, to $7.22 in midday trading on the Nasdaq.
