Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. on Tuesday said it received a $1.5 billion contract to support the U.S. Special Operations Command, and also announced a separate contract in Mexico.

The special ops command conducts covert and clandestine missions, drawing resources from all the U.S. military services. Pasadena-based Jacobs said it will provide logistics, management and business operations support to the command’s headquarters staff, and rapid-deployment theater special operations commands around the world.

The contract is a one-year extension to a support contract that Jacobs has held for the past eight years, and employs more than 398 Jacobs’ employees. Jacobs has been supporting the command since 1997.

In a separate announcement, Jacobs said that it received a contract from ICA Construcciones Pesadas to provide engineering services for Agua Prieta waste water treatment plant in Mexico. The facility will serve roughly 4 million people in Guadalajara, Tonala and Zapopan. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“This award allows us to increase our presence in the Mexican infrastructure market,” said Jacobs Group Vice President Michael Autrey in a statement.

Shares closed down 84 cents, or 1.8 percent, to $45.05 on the New York Stock Exchange.
