RadNet Inc. on Friday said it completed its acquisition of a South Carolina software company, Image Medical Corp., in cash-and-debt deal valued at $10.7 million.
Los Angeles-based RadNet owns and operates 191 outpatient imaging centers. Image Medical is the parent of eRAD Inc., a Greenville, S.C. company that makes picture archiving and other systems for the radiology industry.
RadNet Chief Executive Howard Berger said the acquisition not only will add revenue from licensing eRAD’s products to other centers, but should save RadNet more than $20 million over the next 10 years by eliminating fees that its own centers would otherwise pay to other vendors.
“We remain focused on continuing eRAD’s tradition of providing innovative products to its many existing customers and to the imaging industry at large,” Berger said in a statement. ERAD has about 30 employees, including a research and development team in Budapest, Hungary.
RadNet’s shares were up 5 cents, or 2 percent, to $2.45 in midday trading on the Nasdaq.
