Kaiser Permanente is donating $600,000 to support recovery efforts for some of the worst wildfires to rage through Southern California.

The California healthcare system, whose local office is based in Pasadena, announced Wednesday it would give $350,000 to a disaster relief fund of the United Way of Ventura County and $250,000 to the American Red Cross.

The brush-land fires have since Dec. 4 consumed hundreds of homes from Ventura County to San Diego County.

“We are saddened by the devastation these firestorms are causing,” said July Miller-Phipps, president of Kaiser Permanente Southern California, in a statement. “It is particularly heartbreaking that so many people have lost their homes just before the holidays.”

Kaiser Permanente, which is based in Oakland, contributed $2.75 million in relief for the fires that tore through Northern California in October. It also supported relief efforts after Hurricane Harvey ripped through Houston, Texas.
