U.S. News & World Report named 11 nursing homes in Los Angeles County among its list of best nursing homes for 2018-19.

The health care ranking magazine announced Oct. 30 that 11 nursing homes out of 382 across the county ranked high performing overall, following an evaluation of more than 15,000 homes nationwide.

This year, 2,975 nursing homes were named a U.S. News Best Nursing Home for either short-stay rehabilitation or for overall performance.

“Finding a nursing home that meets an individual’s needs can be overwhelming,” said Brian Kelly, editor and chief content officer of U.S. News, in a statement. “The Best Nursing Home ratings are designed to help potential residents and their families navigate this important decision.”

In Los Angeles, U.S. News ranked eight homes and skilled nursing facilities as high performing overall: Mount San Antonio Gardens in Pomona; Providence Little Company of Mary Transitional Care Center in Torrance; Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills; St. Vincent Medical Center in Westlake; Torrance Memorial Medical Center in Torrance; Citrus Valley Medical Center in Covina; Presbyterian Intercomm Hospital in Whittier; and Brookdale San Dimas in San Dimas.

Nine L.A. nursing homes also rated as high performing in short-stay rehab: Gem Transitional in Pasadena; Paramount Convalescent Hospital in Paramount; USC Verdugo Hills Hospital in Glendale; White Memorial Medical Center in Aliso Village.

Providence LCOM; St. Vincent; Torrance Memorial; Presbyterian Intercomm; and Citrus Valley Medical Center appeared on both lists.
