City of Hope and Providence Health & Services on Wednesday announced a partnership that will add City of Hope’s cancer patient care expertise to Providence’s Los Angeles-area hospitals.

The Renton, Wash., based Catholic non-profit organization operates the Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills and Providence Tarzana Medical Center, Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Centers in Torrance and San Pedro. City of Hope is a specialized cancer center in Duarte.

Under the agreement, City of Hope medical practices will be available to all Providence patients.

“Our shared goal is to enhance access to the type of specialized, high-quality cancer care for which City of Hope is known,” Robert Stone, president of City of Hope, said in a statement. “We partnered with Providence because of their traditions, values and the quality of care they provide in their communities.

“City of Hope is the gold standard for advanced cancer care and will bring to this partnership the latest research and innovative treatments,” said Michael Hunn, regional chief executive of Providence Southern California, in a statement.

City of Hope has several community practice sites in the region, including Glendale, Santa Clarita and Lancaster.
