Cedars-Sinai Medical Center has ushered in nine digital health startups from across the globe into its business accelerator program.
The Beverly Grove hospital announced July 10 the fourth class to enter its Cedars-Sinai Accelerator working to improve health system efficiency and patient care through artificial intelligence, new hardware and digital platforms.
“It’s exciting to see these founders and their teams using innovative technologies to tackle a variety of health care challenges,” said Anne Wellington, managing director of the accelerator program, in a statement.
The 90-day Cedars-Sinai business development program, powered by Techstars, invests $120,000 in each company along with training, mentors, access to world-class doctors and executives and exposure to a global entrepreneurial network.
At the end of three months, the firms showcase their products at a “Shark Tank”-style demo day for investors.
Among the nine new companies from across the U.S. and as far afield as Poland is Digital Medical Tech of Playa Vista, which has a Bluetooth platform to better track medical equipment; Nicolette of Santa Ana, which has an app to guide parents of newborns in neonatal intensive care; and SureConsent of Venice, which has user-friendly digital patient consent forms.
