The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said on Tuesday that it supports the idea of raising the citywide minimum wage – but only if the Los Angeles City Council rejects a proposal to hike the minimum wage for hotel workers.
The Chamber said it would support Mayor Eric Garcetti’s plan to hike the minimum wage in the city to $13.25 an hour if wage increases are phased in over a longer period and if the city withdraws the hotel minimum wage ordinance scheduled for a City Council vote tomorrow, among other conditions.
“Rather than singling out one industry we should engage in a broad discussion of the minimum wage for all workers,” the Chamber said in its statement.
