The Week’s Biggest Movers

The Los Angeles Business Journal’s index of largest local public companies rose again for the week amid wider market gains.

The weighted LABJ Stock Index closed up nearly 2 percent to 151.82 for the trading week ending March 15. Gainers outpaced decliners 93 to 69, with eight companies unchanged.

The biggest gainer was Santa Clarita’s BioSolar Inc., which soared 65 percent to 59 cents after announcing the first commercial order for its solar panel protective film.

Among other gainers: Joe’s Jeans Inc. gained 27 percent to $1.81, Mankind Corp. rose 20 percent to $3.37, and Entravision Communications Corp. added 16 percent to $2.50.

Among losers: Virco Mfg. Corp. dropped 15 percent to $2.20, Trio-Tech International lost 15 percent to $2.05 and NetSol Technologies Inc. fell 12 percent to $10.84.
