The Dow Jones industrial average fell 24 points in Monday trading to close at 17,623.

The S&P 500 fell four points to 2,071.

The Nasdaq rose three points to 5,035.

The LABJ Stock Index rose one point to 237.

Gainers and Losers

El Segundo’s Big 5 Sporting Goods Corp. was Monday’s biggest local gainer. Shares of the company rose 7 percent on the day, closing at $11.30 in anticipation of the company releasing its third quarter earnings Tuesday.

Monday’s biggest loser was Marcus & Millichap Inc. Shares fell 11 percent to close at $41.98 after the company was downgraded by investment firm JMP Securities.
